Intergenerational Balance Time (Children 2-5 & Adults 60+)
Balance is foundational. For young children, strong balance opens up a world of confident play and movement. For adults, maintaining strength and balance is key to independence and safety.
This program brings these two generations together for an hour of movement focused on what everyone needs: balance, core strength, and spatial awareness. It's movement that matters, community that heals, and connection that reminds us why we do this.
What Happens in the Same Space:
-
Children (2-5 years): Navigate safe balance activities, explore spatial awareness, and build core strength through playful movement (e.g., walking along lines, stepping over objects).
-
Adults (60+ years): Participate in a structured falls prevention chair-based class led by Exercise Physiologist Robyn Papworth. The focus is on building core strength and stability to reduce fall risk.
Why Intergenerational?
Connection across generations creates something special. Children benefit from adult encouragement, and adults gain energy and joy from young children. Plus, practically, it means families can come together, and everyone gets the movement they need.
